Dive into the captivating world of fiction writing and literary exploration

I’m an avid reader and constantly on the lookout for new fiction with a mystery, sci-fi, and/or humorous angle. Books I’ve read and enjoyed recently include The Oligarch’s Daughter by Joseph Finder, Life Hacks for a Little Alien by Alice Franklin, and Funny Story by Emily Henry. Right now, I’m enjoying the eighth installment of the Cormoran Strike series, The Hallmarked Man by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a. J. K. Rowlings).
I’m also a fiction author. My first science-fiction novel, Genes of the Past, was published by Starry-Eyed Press in 2023. When I received the copyrights back, I re-published (self-published) the book to reach a broader market. The book is available as a hardcover, paperback, and e-book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other outlets. You can also find it at the Berthoud Library. I’m now working on my next sci-fi novel, The Prairie Dogs and the Alien.

Genes of the Past
Synopsis
In the mid-1960s, a well-preserved hominin fossil is discovered in the Moroccan desert. Examination of the fossil, known as Fat Man, shows it to be around 550,000 years old. Decades later, DNA and protein analyses of the Fat Man skull in the OMICS National Laboratory in the U.S.A. reveal proteins of unknown function. The proteins are classified as olfactory receptors but are distinctly different from any known receptors. Why did humans over half a million years ago have these receptors, and what were they used for? As the mystery resolves, it changes the world for good and bad.

- Genes of the Past by Christer Jansson is a sci-fi/fantasy book that is so well done that it leaves the reader wondering if the author knows something happening in the modern world that we do not. The plot is well thought out and straightforward … OnlineBookClub.org reviewer.
- Genes of the Past by Christer Jansson is the kind of novel that had you watching: “What if technology unquestionably had the power to change everything… And we didn’t realize how to handle it?” … Jansson knows his stuff. The scientific underpinnings are rock solid, so much so that you feel like you’re in the lab with the characters, making difficult decisions right along with them. It’s “hard” sci-fi, but not pretentious. … Definitely recommended for sci-fi fans not scared off by a bit of real science in the mix. OnlineBookClub.org reviewer.

This revelation will surely excite and intrigue readers as they reflect on how well-intentioned human engineering technology can create chaos in the world. OnlineBookClub customer.
